FIRST PERSON ON SCENE LEVEL 4 (FPOS L4)

The IHCD Business and Technology Education Council (BTEC) First Person on Scene Level 4 course (FPOS L4) is designed as the next step for a first aider. It is aimed at those working in remote or hostile environments.  Students will be taught the skills associated with rapid assessment, stabilisation and transfer of both the trauma victim and patients suffering a medical emergency.

FIRST RESPONSE EMERGENCY CARE LEVEL 3 (FREC L3)

Qualsafe Awards Level 3 Certificate in First Response Emergency Care (FREC) (RQF) is a regulated and nationally recognised qualification specifically designed for those seeking a career in the emergency services, ambulance service, the event and security medical sector or those who work in high risk workplaces.

FIRST RESPONSE EMERGENCY CARE LEVEL 4 (FREC L4)

As the next step for those who have completed the Qualsafe Awards Level 3 Certificate in First Response Emergency Care (RQF), this qualification provides learners with a wider scope of practice in prehospital care emergencies, allowing for greater employment opportunities. It also forms part of a progressive suite of prehospital care qualifications that lead to the QA Level 6 Diploma in Paramedic Practice (RQF).

MEDICINE IN REMOTE AREAS (MIRA)

The Medicine in Remote Areas course has been designed to provide personnel who already have experience in prehospital care, the added skills and knowledge to be able to deal with casualties in remote and challenging environments. The course focuses on stabilisation of the casualty, through to the skills required for prolonged field care until the arrival of the emergency services.

MIRA REFRESHER

Our Medicine in Remote Areas (MIRA) refresher course is approved by the Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh. This course has been developed for all students who currently hold a MIRA certificate from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. As with any discipline of medicine things change constantly and it is essential that all students are kept up to date, especially when managing patients in remote areas or where immediate rescue is unlikely.

ADVANCED CARDIOVASCULAR LIFE SUPPORT (ACLS)

The American Heart Association’s Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) course is totally redesigned for healthcare providers who either direct or participate in the resuscitation of a patient, whether in or out of hospital. Through the ACLS course, providers will enhance their skills in the treatment of the adult victim of a cardiac arrest or other cardiopulmonary emergencies.

MAJOR INCIDENT MEDICAL MANAGEMENT (MIMMS)

The Major Incident Medical Management & Support (MIMMS) course is regulated and approved by the Advanced Life Support Group (ALSG) and offers learners the knowledge and systematic approach to manage a major incident. It is an introduction to the bronze, silver and gold level of the command structure

PAEDIATRIC FIRST AID

This regulated and nationally recognised qualification provides learners with the opportunity to develop the basic skills and knowledge needed to deal with a range of emergency paediatric first aid situations which could arise when looking after children
