    Close Protection is the pinnacle of the private security industry and, once you qualify and secure your SIA Licence, a whole new world of exciting career opportunities opens up for you in both a Hostile and Executive role.


    The AoFAQ Level 3 Award in The First Person on Scene qualification has been designed to provide the knowledge and skills to stabilise a patient for up to forty minutes until an ambulance or other pre-hospital care provider arrives.

    The Medicine in Remote Areas course has been designed to provide personnel who already have experience in prehospital care, the added skills and knowledge to be able to deal with casualties in remote and challenging environments. The course focuses on stabilisation of the casualty, through to the skills required for prolonged field care until the arrival of the emergency services.


    The Weapons Competency Shoot is a hiring criterion for all Private Security Companies (PSC’s) and confirms that the firer is “competent” in the use of AK47 and/or M4 rifle and 9mm Glock 17/19 pistol.


    Neil Davis QCVS
    Security Consultant

    Neil is a former Warrant Officer in the British Army, serving for 24 years, leaving in 2006. His last 5 years was as an Advanced Agent Handler with JSG(NI) where he successfully recruited and ran covert HUMINT Sources from within terrorist organisations in various countries around the world and for which he was awarded a QCVS in the 2006 Honours List.

    Since leaving the military, Neil has been employed in both an Intelligence Collection and Close Protection capacity. He has a wealth of both Hostile and Executive Close Protection experience and was the Personal Protection Officer for the EU Ambassador to Sri Lanka as well as providing covert Close Protection for a UK Intelligence Collection organization in Afghanistan. He has many years of Instructional experience, was an Infantry Tactics Instructor at ITC Wales (Brecon) and has instructed Close Protection to foreign Police Forces as well as having recently returned from Afghanistan where he advised, trained and mentored the Afghan Intelligence Services.

    Neil joined the Horizon Team in June 2015.

    Tsarina Youhnovska
    Scenario Co-ordinator & Administration Assistant

    Tsarina is a qualified Close Protection Officer and has looked after various HNWI Clients in Sofia. She has instructed on previous Close Protection courses and is a source of information and advice, particularly for female students. She is one of the most passionate firearms and tactics enthusiasts, you will meet.  Her diligence, attention to detail and high standards is what, ultimately, drives her.

    Tsarina is a trained actress and, as such, her understanding of how to write and shape scenario-based character scripts and get the best out of our Role Players, who are also trained actors/actresses, really does add that all important realism to the scenarios that we use throughout the course. 

    Robert (Robbie) Munnik
    Medical Instructor

    Robbie started his career in the South African Navy as a Diver. He is currently serving as a Combat Medic in the Parachute Regiment after starting his medical career in a medical regiment. He has conducted military medical training in numerous countries including, Cyprus, Canada, Falklands and Kenya where he assisted in setting up numerous clinics for local nationals. Additionally, Robbie is the primary medical trainer / medic for the Parachute regiment covering North of England and Scotland training new recruits and soldiers alike.

    Robbie joined the Horizon Medical Team in 2018 and continues to deliver First Aid, FREC, FPOS and MIRA training on a regular basis.

    Tom Johnston BEM
    Senior Medical Instructor

    Tom Johnston BEM served 12 years in the infantry followed by 5 and a half years in the Royal Army Medical corps. Tom served 3 tours in Northern Ireland and also served in the 1st Gulf Conflict. He was also the lead medic during the Lockerbie disaster, duties included, running the make shift morgue assisting the police with identifying casualties and being present during autopsy’s.

    Tom is an RMA 1, CMT 1 and Battlefield Advanced Trauma and Life Support trained. Upon leaving the Army Tom worked with St Andrews Ambulance Association as a lead trainer. He was also a lead train the trainer up to SVQ level and is a qualified Close Protection Operative.

    Tom joined the Horizon shortly after the company’s inception and is currently Horizon’s Senior Medical Instructor regularly delivering FPOS, FREC & MIRA courses from our UK training centre and across Europe.
